Sofa in the Style of Victorian Gothic – A Play About Family, Loss, and Redemption
Produced by By the Blue Sea microphone theater in collaboration with New Wave Arts, this immersive theatrical experience explores the depths of generational conflict, misunderstanding, and the search for redemption.
Set against the haunting backdrop of Victorian Gothic aesthetics, the play tells the story of a family fractured by distance—both physical and emotional. At its heart is Boris, a patriarch whose carefully constructed world is unraveling beneath him. Played by Lev Grzhonko, an accomplished actor and filmmaker, Boris grapples with the ghosts of his past, the weight of expectations, and the painful realities of an immigrant experience that resonates across generations.
Performed by immigrants for an immigrant audience, the play carries a unique authenticity while addressing universal themes of belonging, legacy, and human connection.
